Alors que la rencontre était prévue à Conakry en début septembre, la FIFA vient de valider le changement de lieu du match Sénégal-Ouganda comptant pour la 6ème journée des éliminatoires de la coupe du monde 2014.
Cette demande de changement de lieu avait été déposée par le Sénégal sur demande de son sélectionneur Alain Giresse qui justifie sa décision par les conditions climatiques qui prévalent à Conakry au mois de septembre. « A Conakry, au mois de septembre, c’est la saison des pluies. Je ne voulais pas courir le risque de jouer sur un terrain détrempé » a-t-il argumenté.
Le match se jouera donc le 07 septembre au stade de Marrakech. Une affiche aux allures d’une finale puisque les deux formations détiennent toutes leur destin en main. Le Sénégal est en tête du groupe avec 9 points, suivi de l’Ouganda qui totalise 8 points.
Le Sénégal en raison de la suspension de son stade (Leopold Sédar Senghor) suite aux échauffourées enregistrées au mois d’octobre 2012 contre la Côte d’ivoire, dispute depuis ses matchs hors de ses frontières.
